Celebrating the Creative Capacities of Children
Overview: Gallery-ish, located in Cafe’ Play at the Children’s Museum of Tacoma,
is a space dedicated to honoring children’s experiences with art materials. Artists, schools, and local groups collaborating with children to make art are invited to make visible for our community and museum visitors the gifts, talents, and sparks of young children.
Gallery-ish features four installations each year, reflecting a different theme or process as selected by the submitting group. Artists of all ages are invited to submit their artwork for consideration; however, jury preference will be extended to groups of children and adult artists who collaborate with children.
Proposals: Artist collectives, groups and schools are welcome to submit images for consideration. The application, images and other required materials must be submitted electronically or by mail, by the below dates.
Fall - October to December, submissions due: August 15
Winter - January to March, submissions due: November 15
Spring - April to June, submissions due: February 15
Summer - July to September, submissions due: May 15
Multiple artist installation of tasteful and family appropriate artwork reflecting the creative capacities of children and youth.
Work must be ready to hang on wall. The Museum does have some frames available.
Gallery-ish is not a sales gallery, but artist contact information may be included for labels (CMT will create these labels).
Application Submital Requirements:
Statement of interest and narrative introducing the title for the collection, the group of artists, and an explanation of the creative process and/or provocation that inspired the work.
Image of artwork or concept of artwork must be submitted electronically or by mail. Images must be submitted as JPEG files.
Size of artwork must be included.
This is an open opportunity for artists, groups, and schools in Pierce County.
Submissions open to all ages; however jury preference will be extended to children and adult artists who work and/or collaborate with children.
Work must be available for display for the duration of the calendar months. Transportation of artwork responsibility of artist/group contact.
